'Himmapaanensis'
« on: March 17, 2012, 05:00:00 AM »
I visited our old home to fetch my portfolio. It gave me goosebumps... But the old studio was here, if you care to drop in.

Our regular members are familiar with all of these, I'm sure, but I thought I would post a few personal favourites here at all events, beginning with the not-so-serious things.  Click image to expand, of course.

Inconveniently enough, some these make better sense within their contexts. If anyone not already familiar with any of these requires further explanation, do let me know and I shall direct you to the relevant information!

It's great to see your artwork again~!

Imo the best aspect of your work is the lively expressions of the characters~

Thank you, Dyscrasia. I think I may have lost every hope of being taken seriously with my palaeo art by now.  ;D

Speaking of which, however...

Finally, for now; a mixed post of the most recent and/or best.

I've noticed that there is some inconvenience with the enlargement when there are multiple images, as there is only one side scrolling bar at the bottom of the post. The following will still expand, but I've included a link beneath each piece to its dA page, where you can view it at its full size more comfortably if you choose. I will also edit the previous posts accordingly in due course.

Malcolm's having some similar issues with that scroll bar..I agree it can be a bit of trouble. :/

I think you just about have enough art to start putting together that Dinosaur portfolio/ sketchbook eh ? ;D

It will be a rather monochromatic-looking book so far.  ;D I don't do enough colour pieces, it seems (chiefly because they take longer  :-[).

I much prefer that pages are comfortably loaded and viewed, so I'm actually happy with images being restricted to 800 pixels.  :) But what I'll do in future is to just post them here at 800 so they don't expand at all (thus avoiding the side-scrolling altogether), and include a link to a larger size. :)

I have a feeling color wouldn't be a big issue..most of us are just loving the sheer detail..at least I know I am. ;)

I have been hosting images on DA and FB ..and I'm pretty sure they are larger than 800..maybe not by much but still some.  Resizing can be a pain if you have a LOT of back work to do though.

All of these are hosted on dA too and I just copied the image URLs directly to here, which is why they still expand at the moment. I may not resize all the older work now if it does become a pain, but it won't be a problem in future as I now know to do so right away each time I complete a piece. :)

You are SO talented  ;D
Your style is so beautiful!

And I love your not-so-serious ones, they're fun  ;)
The one with Olorotitan beating the Tarbosaurus in a race especially made me smile  ;D

Click sig for my collection! :)

Thank you, Takama. :) I'm fond of that one too; as well as actually fond of Leallynasaura itself, of course. I kept meaning to draw more of them, but as with everything else, still haven't managed it.  :-[ ::)

What a collection!  I like the new (to me anyway) hadrosaur study.  That middle illustration is so equinesque (no accident, I'm sure)!

My favourites out of the 'serious' ones depict the animals in their environment. Although it's monochrome (unlike, say, the Guanlong) the Deinonychus pair is probably my favourite piece out of these. Might you consider a coloured version...? ;D

Thank you both so much.

Curt, I'm sure it probably isn't.  ;D I have such a thing for the powerfully arched necks of Andalusian horses...

I much prefer some indication of environment too, Marc. I'm only hesitant about doing so more often because I'm still vastly ignorant about Mesozoic flora, apart from the obvious usual suspects like tree ferns, cycads, horsetails and so on.

Yes, I most certainly am considering a colour piece of the Deinonychus. In fact, I'm continually thinking of reworking the dromaeosaurs. The only one I'm reasonably happy with seems to be the flying Velociraptors, ironically enough.
